We decided to honor the late great David Bowie by taking a look at three movies starring the Thin White Duke. Two of these films have strong connections to the gothic subculture and the third is a slightly obscure yet highly stylized film about an alien. Early in the band’s career they had a very gothic rock sound that produced some very catchy and unique tracks, but does their catalog of albums include a plethora of hidden gems or merely a collection of average songs? As some of you may have noticed, we didn’t release a new episode last week. Unfortunately, we were just swamped between between the holidays and getting sick so we made the decision to take the week off.
However, we are back in full swing with a brand new episode. We thought it would be a great way to start the new year with another movie episode so this week we review three movies that are currently streaming on Netlfix (At least currently in America), and they are Dark Star: H.R. Giger’s World, Rosemary’s Baby, and The Legend of Hell House. So if you’re looking to add a little darkness to you’re new year, these are some excellent choices whether your looking for an obscure horror film, a classic film, or a new perspective on a great artist you will find something among this list. This week we take a look at Siouxsie and the Banshees’ career through the mid to late eighties, starting with A Kiss in the Dreamhouse and ending with Through the Looking Glass. This is where most people feel the band honed their sound into the distinct Banshees sound that we all know and love. Plenty of hits came from these releases, but do these albums hold up in modern times?
